How did you like the Main Grandstand? I've never purchased F1 tickets at a main grandstand because I feel you only see the cars for a tiny fraction of the laps as they are normally in a straight at full speed. But maybe I should try it
I'm confused about something. Both Renault and Infiniti being engine companies, what's with both logos on the car? One of them builds the chassis? The electronics? I did a quick search on the topic, but came up somewhat short.

This was my first F1 race and yes, next time I would definitely choose to sit somewhere else for the variety. That day was rather hot, so I was glad for the shade at least. The Main Grandstand at the Circuit of The Americas provided an ok view of two turns and like you said, the cars were going by at full speed. It did give a good view of the always exciting race start, pit stops and the award ceremony.

Nice pictures!! Were you able to get your ticket without purchasing a "seat license"? We tried to get main grandstand tickets last year but they told us we would have to be VIP's and purchase a seat license. Considering we live 1,000 miles away from Texas we concluded that was a terrible idea. We were on Turn 12 and it was FANTASTIC. We could see the peak of them coming up the hill and turn 1 as well as several other parts of the track including where we were sitting. If just the husband and I go back we will probably try and get tickets at turn 15 or turn 1. If we bring the kids we will want to be on the main grandstand though.

Did you go to the top of the tower?
I was in T12 as well last year quite an awesome place. About 20 seconds of each lap in front of you, plus the other places in the horizon you mentioned. I didn't get to go this time, as I thought I would have races where I live (NYC area) and in my home country (Mexico) in 2014. Turns out I won't so I'm already planning the Austin 2014 trip

lisan23, I got the tickets last minute second hand from StubHub. Close to the time of the event sellers start getting nervous about being stuck with a ticket. Unfortunately, I didn't go to the top of the tower.
