Dick was a real gentleman and fun person as well as a true and dedicated racer.
I was fortunate enough to meet him about 8 years ago and we had a wonderful conversation.
He was gracious with the fans and always had time for them.
I have a picture of Dick and me that was taken in Slinger, Wisconsin. I always counted that picture as one of my favorites of any of the drivers that I had an opportunity to meet over the years.
That happened just a few miles down the road from here. So sorry to hear this. I've always liked Dick Trickle. He was well respected in the sport for sure.
Apparently, he took his own life in the cemetary where his grand daughter is buried. The local news says that his continuing grief over her death several years ago may have consumed him.
Just sorry to see anyone of reasonable health feel they need to take their own life.
It's sad to see anyone who feels they have to end it that way. Regardless of the reason.
