I don't see how any of this as having any relation to what I said. It makes no sense.
No sponsor or team is going to want a driver that has to resort to lawsuits.
It is as simple as that.
But the difference is, Truex lost his sponsorship thanks to the stupidity of MWR's GM telling Bowyer's team he should spin out at nine laps to go and the 55 car's crew chief telling Vickers to pit with two to go. It's a lot different than any other suspect firing we have seen before. the team actions on track, led to the sponsor that was locked up in a deal (not even looking to extend the contract at this point) to pull the deal. In this case, it was the team's only sponsor so they not just lost a sponsor, they lost their only sponsor. If the 56 was a split deal, I am sure we could have seen Truex stay in but the fact is they lost their (only) sponsor so he was able to be let go.
As a Northerner living in the South it is a valid opinion.
If Waltrip feels they are both equal in talent then how do you decide?
Who do you hire to work for you the guy from out of town who you helped lose his sponsor or the guy from the neighborhood.
I'm also a northerner living in the south for ten years and do not share the same bias as you do.
Truex had nothing to do with what happened at Richmond or the loss of NAPA. Vickers is a great guy and driver but his downside is his health. While Michael may be loyal to Vickers because of Vickers situation, it would be a better business decision to pay off Vickers contract and then put Truex in the 55.
Then Vickers could go to someplace like FRR that may be able to work with him missing a few races next year in case his health problem comes back.

Like RoadTraveler said, it doesn't matter who's at fault or how this differs from other situations. The second you file suit against an employer you become damaged goods and the only thing that will potentially bail you out is your driving ability.
Like it or not, Truex does not have enough talent to overcome a potential blacklist and any backlash that would arise from an employer lawsuit. He'd be immediately relegated to the Nationwide or Truck Series and his chances of landing a top Cup ride would evaporate.

I just think it is BS he is the fall guy for something he didn't even do. He didn't ask for the help to get in the chase, it was MWR that thought he needed it. Now his sponsors gone and he is out of the deal in a time when most rides announced their new line ups. If this was the 90's Truex could find a good quality ride at this point. Now he is stuck for Furniture Row or Nationwide and truck deals when Truex has proven he deserves a cup ride.
truex is going to find a ride somewhere, and even if it is just one season or two, he will land in a quality cup ride again, unless he files a lawsuit, then he is essentially toast, even in trucks or nationwide he wont be in a quality ride again. to get that he would have to start his own team rather like alan kulwicki did.
As to sponsors and their expectations ;it just goes with the times. If these guys want to go back to small time ;drag your car to the track they can .But I think they prefer the millions and the image required to represent their sponsors who pay for more than just driving. Just saying. If a fan wants to see other then go to a local track ;its still there.
Really it is irrelevant that Truex comes from the south or who may or may not be a better driver. You can't just take Vickers out of the 55 because Truex got screwed. That would create even more bad press for MWR. Especially since that just announced that deal a few months ago.
I like Truex and I think he is more solid than Vickers. Not sure if he is better than Bowyer.
So then why is he willing to let Truex go instead of Vickers. Not counting Vickers health problems that could change everything.
No such thing as a misguided opinion. Facts can be misguided but opinions are just what they are.
A very good question.
