Well, I could have saved Nascar alot of trouble. I called the #3 being on the pole about a month ago.
Based on Danica being on the pole for the 500 last year and greedy, old, $#&% Childress bringing a (mostly) black #3 car back to the Cup series this year, you knew darned well that it would be sitting on the pole for the 500.
I used to scoff at the Nascar conspiracy theorists, but I have now lost faith in Nascar. It sure looks like the results seem be more and more scripted versus pretty darned coincidental.
BTW, good article that surfaced this week where Childress told Martha Earhardt that he wouldn't bring back a black #3 (in the same style) to Cup. Yeah, what a guy.
Anyway, way to go Nascar. You've killed off another 40 year fan here.

The conspiracy is a fallacy because Jr is not sitting on the front row with him and a pole does not get you the race trophy.
Furthermore, it's just a number it doesn't belong to Earnhardt or Martha. According to the talking heads Dillon was the 4th different driver to put the #3 on the pole for the 500. I view this as Childress moving on and who is to say he didn't consult with her and receive her "blessing."
On the brighter side it looks like you will have time to take up a new hobby. Good luck!
Apparently NASCAR didn't fix Dillon's car enough because Truex came within .004 of knocking him off the pole. Austin may not be a crowd favorite, but the kid has more talent than Paul Menard and John Wrecks Weekly...the other two drivers who got their rides because of money and name recognition.
RCR cars were strong at Daytona all week. Now if my guy Shrub wins the race and Dillon finishes 2nd, but then NASCAR DQs the 18 due to the barometric pressure falling below 30.15 at the time of the checkerd being dropped, well then.......I would say shenanigans to NASCAR.

Maybe Juan Pablo (who is no longer driving in cup)?
But was he spotted anywhere near the pace car last night?
