Well, the silver lining is that with all of their ridiculous actions (blunders) recently, NASCAR is freeing up lots of good seats at the tracks that have been reserved by long time, ticket subscribers.

Default No surprises here....

UPDATE: Daytona International Speedway, along with the rest of the tracks that host NASCAR national series races, issued a statement Thursday asking fans to refrain from displaying the Confederate flag at the racetracks. DIS had a box of U.S. flags ready to exchange for Confederate flags to anyone who asked while checking in Thursday for the race weekend. A track spokesman said that as of 3:00pm/et -- seven hours after the check-in started -- no one had asked to exchange the flag. Those checking in the campers did not ask if they wanted to exchange.(ESPN)(7-3-2015)

Good for the fans! Wave them high!

I can't believe they expected to get many takers on this.. I think they simply wanted to be able to issue a statement, saying we asked them to refrain and offered a replacement flag..

For some unknown reason I wound up with one of those flags. I was thinking of taking it to the range for target practice.

I wonder if anybody would be upset. I certainly wouldn't do that with our nations flag.

I say if anybody wants to wave the flag of the losing side, you should have the freedom to do so. I don't agree with it, or what the flag symbolizes, but it's your right. That's what makes this country great.

Exactly, it is an effort, or at least the appearance of same.. As of now there is nothing they can do legally until it is specified somewhere as a condition of purchasing tickets that you agree not to display the flag. And I am not so sure they want to go down that road.

No.. they certainly do not. I don't own a confederate flag and do not take them to the races... i see a handful at every race but they do not dominate the skyline.. if NASCAR expects to ban them, i think they would be thumbing their nose at a lot of fans who don't even care that much about the flag but certainly do care a lot about the freedom to wave it if they choose to!

Its just a PR move until the media latches onto the next controversial topic...

His time would be better spent banning fixed races w/ mystery yellow flags on the last laps! The series is so phony and sad. All that smarmy family stuff w/ the kids and wifes before the race, then they wreck each other at 200 mph and start swinging in the pits. Pathetic. I've seen wrestlers that were better actors. If you're gonna run a phony series, at least show up for the rehearsals guys.

It never ceases to amaze me that people actually like this crap, but as people may have noticed, not that many do anymore. The attendance is getting lower and lower. The France family needs to go, and this whole series needs to be given back to the individuals and teams. Cut out TV, cut out the lame brain sponsors (erectile dysfunction and clothes soap anyone?), and you'll see the stands full again, and maybe even real racing. But the way it is now, what a joke.

We got a word for anyone that would do that to a rebel flag down here. The word is Yankee. I dislike even typing it, much less saying it.

If the 'lame brain' sponsors go, so does the sport. Who do you think writes the checks?
