I think the Truck Series is officially on life support. Brad Keselowski announced today that he's shutting down his truck team at the end of the year. Red Horse shut down abruptly earlier this year, GMS is rumored to be moving out of trucks and into the Cup Series after this season, and Kyle Busch has hinted he may pull the plug on his truck program as well. It's a shame because the racing in that series is actually pretty good.
you forget that racing in general is expensive, despite the cost saving measures nascar has instituted over the years for trucks and xfinity. i doubt the truck series is going away though just because a few teams are leaving that series. there are others that will take their place.
I dunno, when Kyle leaves that's a bad sign, as he's been a big supporter of that series. I haven't watched trucks since Kimi rode a few races while out of F1. So yeah, I can see them closing up shop and not wasting sponsors on something no one watches.
dont forget that nascar rules are changing as well regarding cup drivers participating in the lower series. cup drivers are going to be limited by rule now as to how many races they can run in each of the lower series, so it makes sense for kyle and brad to drop truck racing from their schedules. why send the large amount of money to run a couple of races a year?
and i dont think that kyle or brad are ready yet to own their own teams, so it may not even be their decision. gibbs and penske are probably making that decision for them.
I didn't know about the rule changes until tonight. I am not a nascar fan but I decided to put on the race since I heard about it on the radio. I thought, oh night racing sounds exciting. So I put the race on and discovered a thing called stages for nascar. After watching the first stage tonight I said nope, I'm out. I prefer a single race not stages like this is some video game. It's too confusing and it feels like it draws down the excitement. It feels like a NBA game here I just have to tune into the last stage to see what is going on. NASCAR might have had a new fan tonight but stage racing...no thanks.
it is a single race, its just that they have broken it up in stages for playoff points.
