Who needs human spectators??

In a few short years when self-driving street cars are a lot smarter they will be the spectators at the driverless car races.

I can hear it now: “I'm sorry honey. We'll have to walk to church today. Our car has driven up to Watkins Glen to watch the races.”

If that future sounds inconvenient, wait until the first snowy day when people find that their self-driving car has driven down to Cancun for the winter.

I do not see the point. It is like watching the 100M with robots.

Yeah. Only the developers and engineers workin on the cars will care, maybe AI researchers and enthusiasts will join, like in RoboCup, but that's about it.
