It's funny. Wrecks are what many NASCAR fans want to see, but somehow, watching the "Big One" take out so many good contenders yesterday, I felt a bit empty inside.
As the race wore on and more wrecks took out more good drivers, it started to become a bit frustrating. At the end, the first G-W-C, I was rooting for Bowyer or Newman (both I felt deserving to finally win the 500 before their career ends). Then the 14 went out and only Newman left.
Felt really bad for the Rocketman. Not only did he have a horrible crash, but it had been a very long time since he was "this close" to winning the race of his dreams. Now, at his age and whatever recovery he may need, Newman could possibly never race again. Sad.
Hoping for the best for Rocketman and his family/crew.

I agree. I like to see a good ol' fashioned NASCAR wreck just as much as the next fan. But to just watch wreck after wreck is not enjoyable. Especially when so many good drivers are eliminated, and in this case when someone gets hurt.

So relieved to hear that Newman's injuries are non life threatening. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and is back on the track soon. And congrats to JGR and Denny Hamlin on his 3rd (2nd in a row) Daytona 500 victory.
Well, my concern is that normally a statement will include that he's "Awake and Alert" or similar. We didn't get that.
But, a serious head injury wouldn't be "Non life threatening"
They have no Xfinity/Truck teams. the only two Fords in Xfinity are Briscoe and Cindric.. I don't.. Look.. Stewart Haas or Penske I think would be willing to loan either to Roush for a week.. A month.. But not longer than that.
I could see Crafton coming in.. Maybe. But again.. I think he's happy in the Trucks, and while he'd fill in. He's not interested in taking over the ride long-term
Ragan seems to be top of the list for me. He's been with Roush in the past.. He's.. 'retired' but I think he'd come back for another shot in good equipment.
Kenseth still works for Roush in some capacity IIRC, and did field that car last year, or was it year before, for testing purposes.
