Well now that he has a pocket full of sponsers ready to sponser him for his off track social justice warrior celeb and not his on track performance (Danica2.0). Wallace parted ways with Petty looking for a better ride.
Obviously a driver such as Wallace is not going to leave a ride like Petty's unless he already has something lined up. (One would think, right? ) The rumors put him in one of 3 rides . The Kyle Larsons old ride the 42 at Gannassi... Really? The most coveted ride in NASCAR the Jimmie Johnsons 48, REALLY?! Or some kind of scenario where Denny Hamlin buys a existing Toyota team alledgedly with Michael Jordan and puts Wallace in the car.
Well Ganassi announced today, They are putting Ross Chastain in the 42, so next. So The word is Hendrick is going to bring Kyle Larson back in to drive the 48. So next. My understanding is Hamlin would have a lot of major hoops to jump through to pull of team ownership. Did Wallace overplay his hand by leaving a ride such as Pettys ?

Great sighs of relief were heard outside Ganassi and Hendrick headquarters.

Yeah, nothing surprises me anymore , but I was having a real hard time believing either of those rides would be that desperate for sponsership that they would go to Wallace. Especially the 48 !

Its Hendrick, its the team with the most championships of any current or past driver except for Richard Petty and DALE sr.
While they have certainly had a down couple of years, it still remains the most coveted open seat for ANY driver and they would have their pick of talent, such as Kyle Larson. Even in the worst of years Hendrick probably has the least trouble with sponsership. Why would they settle for a 3rd tier driver like Wallace?

So if you, as a professional stock car driver and given performance in say the last 5 years, had a choice between driving the 48 car, and oh, lets say a Stewart Haas or Gibbs car, where would you go?
