Way back in the 70s in Stars & Stripes, there was a picture of a white driver who did that. Probably European, I think he had dark hair of a pretty boy style. Does anyone have a name of someone back then who it might be?

I am not talking about this guy, https://blog.dupontregistry.com/cele...-ferrari-wall/ . For one thing, the guy in the 70s had it hanging vertically.

Could be Nelson Piquet. But he retired in 1990 or 1991
(His son Nelson Piquet Jr was also Formula1 champion.)

This was 50 years ago. Are you sure, you remember all those details correctly??

Maybe the car was in museum?

No, the picture was of the driver infront of his car and a caption sort of like what I described....."Most drivers when they retire hang up their gloves, this guy.....".

It's just a point of interest to, not something for a bet or anything. Something I remembered from childhood, that is vaguely in memory, and now as I approach retirement, it is something I might reference on the picture side of my diary (pictures that relate to my thoughts).....though in this case, the reference was different.

Maybe F1 driver Joakim Bonnier from Sweden? He won one race, retired from F1 in 1971 and died at Le Mans a year later. The Bonnier family is worth billions.

What did you mean by "pretty boy hair"?

In every pic I've ever seen of Bonnier he seems quite conservatively coiffed.
