OMG it was AWESOME!! Our seats were about 8 rows up from the tree but most of the time I hung out along the fence to be closer and get some pics. I was told what to look out for in the pit area so we were prepared but it was funny watching other's that were not. lol One team invited us into their pit area to show us how things work, which was great! We renewed the tickets. Here's a few pics I took. I have a new camera now so I can't wait to go back.
I had always heard about it vibrating your whole body but to actually feel it for yourself...WOW!!! What I didn't understand is the couple that was standing next to me along the fence did not have any ear protection on. Heck, I accidentally pulled out one of my earplugs while in the stands and the sound killed my ear. I couldn't imagine being that close to the cars without protection.

Yeah, now you know why it's a horrible thing to see on tv. TV is unable to even begin to show people what drag racing really is like.
Standing between the cars at the starting line is the very best place to see them and feel them! Hang on to your hat tho, it tends to take flight!

Oh, now that would be FUN!! I envy that older man that stands in between the cars.

OMG, to make a long story short. Lived in So Cal (until 2 years ago, in Charlotte, NC now) anywho, DH has been going to Pomona since the 70's and started going again in the 90's. Well one of my former co-workers befriended a kid who worked for Poweraide and hooked us up for one of the races, 2005. They took us in the cart that sat on the other side of the k-rail next to the dragsters. So they warm the tires up and I though ok, not so bad and then the light turned green and HOLY CR_P! DH and my BFF's DH were laughing at me! My camera lens pointed straight up in the air, although somehow I got the photo?? and the drink between my knee's fell on the ground. Oh and the kid taking care of us, yeah, he laughed at me too.
So, luckily where I worked out here (NC), one of our partners was Coca Cola and DH and I got to go to Z-max and sit in the Coke suites, so I was actually right above Luvsdabeach, just sitting in the AC. They have 2 suites, one above the stands and the one in the front of the track, we got to sit in both. But we also got to stand between the dragsters this time. Yes, I was the girl who chickened out! Having done it in Pomona, I knew what to expect and I couldn't do it. DH had a blast though.

Ohhhh I sooo would have done that. Out of the three days I believe the first day (Fri) was the best. The crews are more relaxed and most would come up to people and answer questions. I learned a lot that day.

We were thier on Sat. DH always like to go to qualifying at Pamona. Glad we have a strip in Charlotte now.
If anyone is interested, Pinks will be filming the show in April at Z-max.
