I'm looking into selling my Corvette Z06 and buying an XKR, which would be much more comfortable and suitable for my daily driving needs.

I've driven an '03 XKR multiple times as a company test vehicle, and an '07 once for a test drive. Yes, the newer Jaguars have a nicer interior, aluminium body, more features etc...but I just don't know what I think of the looks. The old one was just drop-dead gorgeous. With the new one, I think the styling could grow on me, but it just doesn't do it for me like the '06 and previous.

Okay everyone, is it just me or does the older style look nicer than the new models?

Opinions much appreciated, thanks in advance!

The old XK was a looker, but I think the new XK is also gorgeous. The build quality of the car is more than enough to sway my vote to the new one, even if the old one is better looking.

New. It looks amazing. Plus, the aluminum really helped.

Ah, I can't hotlink from one of the sites. Here's a good shot of an '06 XKR:

I love the fact that the new one is all aluminium, has a nice nav system....etc

I just don't know if I can warm up to the front grill of the '07+

The 2007+ is a better car in every aspect. If you can afford the price difference, there really is no reason to go for the previous gen.

There's only one car I've ever crossed the street for the sole purpose of looking at: an XKR. Sure, I'll turn my head when a Veyron, RR, Aston Martin, Ferrari, etc drives by, but only once have I gone out of my way.

I have no real input on your choice.

The new one would be one of the best looking cars on the road if it didn't look like the hood scoops came out of a JC Whitney catalogue! I also feel like they could have done more to make the front vents and foglights flow.

The first time I saw one, it was pre-production when I worked in the auto industry, and at first glance, my jaw dropped. Then, I got closer, and it turned to " :/ "

As it stands, I prefer the previous gen overall for appearances, but I'd get one that had a hood of the more tame, slower model so it didn't have those damn airvents.

I really, really want to like the '07+ better than the previous generations. Of course it's a better car in every way, except for styling possibly, than the previous generation. At least the grille is slightly different than the XK8.

I just remember how disappointed I was when the new XK came out. I wondered how this car could be designed to look way too similar to the Ford Taurus. Then I realized that the cars had the same designer, Ian Callum.
