I drive both a black Z06 and orange Lotus, which I love driving and feel complement each other well. Have no idea what either one says about me...but always wondered
With the Subaru part people think I'm non-conformist "crunchy," "granola" or lesbian. (which I'm not, I swear!)
When I say it's a WRX people either don't know what it is, or know that it's sporty or "rice-rockety."
When people see me in it they either think it's a regular sedan (from most angles) or a bit more expensive car (from other angles it looks pretty aggressive) or they think it's an off road/active lifestyle car.
I bought it because I wanted a different experience from the Honda's I've driven; it handles well for a sedan, there's plenty of power, I like the way the car sounds and , again, it's a sedan; I need the room. Also it's not solely FWD; I wanted a different dynamic this time; I didn't want torque steer. It's amazing feeling both the "push" and "pull" of a AWD system. I would have prefered a RWD sedan, but there aren't any at this price point new.
So I would classify my choice as wanting a sporty sedan, others (if they care) might see me quite differently.
I'm a proud American. I wouldn't be caught dead driving or owning a foreign car. I drive a 3/4 ton diesel pick up for daily use and work off the clock. At work I drive the company 3/4 ton van. My collector and fun car is a '65 Mustang.
If it's not tough or fast...I won't own it.
This guy paid $1000 for me, I'm reliable, versatile, and get good fuel economy. If he didn't live in a sweltering hell-hole, he'd probably be bicycling or walking instead, out of choice. But in the meantime, I'm surprisingly fun to drive.
Hey, what do you know! Since I posted that I moved away from that sweltering hell-hole and now I don't have to drive, ever. So I gladly walk or bike everywhere instead, and save a ton of money and headaches by doing so. But I still think cars are interesting.
I like to be classy
I love to cruise at fast speeds on the hwy
I like to be comfortable but sporty
I don't really have anyone to cart around, but if they do the backseat has plenty of room

You feel loyalty to companies who do not even think twice about offshoring production and purchasing non-domestic produced items for manufacturing? Does not make any sense.
The springs on my 2006 f-350 were made in Mexico, no telling how many other items were imported for the thing, including components of the 6.0.
