my area got hit with a little tornado yesterday afternoon. coming home from work i drove thru 3 deep puddles in my 92 Toyota tercel

this AM and PM i heard and felt something that sounded like a brake warning sensor when i braked. did not last for long, only after starting up and driving a few blocks. Midas just put new front brake work on in June and told me the back brakes were still OK (last back brake job was 1999)

can the puddles cause the back brakes (not concerned about the front since they're new) to wear out faster?

the car also needs new struts/shocks could it be those?

No. Back brakes (Drum in your case) last a a very long time and the water would not effect that. Brakes make noise, especially when wet. Even new brakes (front and back) are prone to noise. You have nothing to worry about.

Your front rotors may have gotten a little rust on them from the water, but it quickly wore off after braking a few times.
