I have a 2003 Nissan Xterra.
I got into an accident on Rt. 130. Some kid wasn't paying attention and slammed into the back of my car. Not any serious damage, but enough to need a new paint job on the back end.
My car went into the shop. Meanwhile, the starter went bad because they were messing with the battery and wiring, they repainted the whole car, they fixed the back bumper and a few other things.
I finally get my Xterra back 2 weeks later. Everything looks good. I try to open the passengers doors with the key flog, but its only capable of opening the drivers side door. I use the key, and the key is able to open all the doors. I try to lock the car with my key, and it locks the driver's side door only. I use the key flog to lock the doors and it locks all doors.
This is so inconvenient, and the repair shop said that they didn't do anything that would cause it to happen.
The body shop should never have played with your wiring.
They could have disconnected it at one point disabling the system. Call your claims agent and tell him you need a automotive electrical shop to complete the job.
I have been hit so hard the body shop then sent the truck to a 4 x 4 shop to replace the rear axle. And then to a automotive electrical shop for missing connections.
It could be the remotes need to be reprogrammed if the system lost voltage/memory. Also, most cars you need to hit the unlock button on the remote to unlock all the doors. One push to unlock the drivers door only, two to unlock the rest. But it only locking the drivers door is weird.
