There is almost zero correlation to what people drive vs. what their political beliefs are. So, I'm just thinking you need to deal with your own prejudices and stop listening to Glenn Beck.
That's not true at all. There are myriad political consulting and adveritising firms in this country that charge high fees to get this type of data.
It feels good to denounce stereotypes and trumpet individualism, but the fact of the matter is that most people make very predictable choices. And we can predict the choices they make based on socioeconomic characteristics. The Obama campaign, for example, knows to skip the house where the 40-year old white, ex-Marine who drives a Ford F-150 resides. And the Romney campaign is not going to waste its time courting 24-year old female voters with law degrees living in San Francisco.
I seriously doubt there are too many liberals driving Chevy Suburbans. And I seriously doubt there are too many conservatives driving Priuses.
I seriously doubt there are too many liberals driving Chevy Suburbans.
Maybe there aren't "too many" liberals driving Suburbans; but as I recall, the "Earth in the Balance" author was driving a Suburban when he got a speeding ticket a few years ago. Do as I say, not as I do, I guess.
But what I really want to know is, why did you reply to a three-year-old post?
I don't look at the size of the car, I look at how many people it usually carries. Is an SUV that usually carries four people worse than 4 Pruises that only carry one? Go by people/mile/gallon and the SUV can be just as "green."

I think you are wrong, especially about liberals. They may not drive a Chevy Suburban, but they drive a Range Rover, or Mercedes M-Class, or similarly heavy V8 powered vehicle that has the same fuel economy and carbon footprint.
Lots of upper crust liberals drive cars like the Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7 series. Not noted for efficiency.
I happen to know a number of conservatives who quite happily drive hybrids. They just like fuel economy.
Hmm. They sure did during the "Impeach/Hang Bush" years. The Democratic Underground and Daily Koz were as full of hate speech as any current conservative organization.
Anyhow, my wife is a Liberal and misses our Range Rover quite a bit, and has laid claim to the big dually, and I'm technically a conservative and drive a Volt. Not doing too good with the stereotypes around here...
I look at all the people in rush hour traffic in their prius. all with single occupancy.
And then I look at SUVs and see them carrying 2-3 people atleast.
Oh, and I took a 500 mile road trip and had 7 people in the SUV, I wish it was slightly bigger.
Liberals love SUVs - they are necessary to carry the scores of gun toting security agents that protect them from the people they are trying to help.
