I always had an uncanny sense of north-south direction. That all suddenly disappeared after a couple of prolonged trips south of the equator. I think it is because, in the southern hemisphere, the sun crosses the sky from right to left, instead of from left to right, and maybe that's what threw me off forever. My mind would no longer subconsciously orient my way of thinking according to the movement of the sun across the sky.

You can not possibly be worse than I am! Glad to know that I'm not the only one, though!

Default well

when i found out long ago that co workers were taking advantage of my savant skills knowledge of road directions and "invite" me places just to pick up their disgusting cronies and give them rides, i stopped doing the favor, and now when I'm asked where some place is located and how to get there, i play dumb dumber and dumbest. it freaks them out to wonder why all of a sudden i am not lifting a finger to help them get to their pathetic functions and parties

I can almost always point North. I don't know if I always keep the direction in my mind and adjust as I turn or what, but I can get turned around and still know where the cardinal directions are. It has gotten me out of a bind a few times on back roads (knowing the highway was North of me, etc).
