I'm not aware of any automotive *manufacturing* going on in NC. Are you talking about working for a dealer, in maintenance somewhere, parts manufacturing, you want to join a NASCAR pit crew, or what exactly?

Not being good with math is going to hurt you whereever you go in a technical field. Man up and learn it or spend your life as a "cripple" - you won't go far in the white-collar world without the ability to both do quantitative studies (how many, what cost, how much stress, what % risk of failure, how much interest, etc.) and to write clear, cogent reports for your management.

Not what you want to hear, but, it is what it is.

Alabama currently ranks 4th in the country for automotive production. It has a Honda manufacturnig plant in Lincoln, a Hyundai plant in Montgomery, a Mercedes-Benz plant just outside of Vance and a Toyota plant near Huntsville. Why leave Alabama?

I don't think that there's anything "automotive" in North Carolina, unless you count the NASCAR teams based out of Charlotte.

However, there is a heavy truck manufacturing presence in North Carolina. There are four Freightliner plants in the state and Volvo Trucks North America has its headquarters in Greensboro and a plant in Salem.
