I agree 0-60 is pointless I am not interested in any cars that can't do a 1/4 in 9 seconds flat.

There will be a 'market' for autos with a V8 engine; you just won't be able to buy a car with one in the not-too-distant-future as they will be legislated out of existence thanks to the new CAFE standards, as Automobile News & others have reported.

I take mine to the track. Even if I didn't, well, I live in a town with a lot of stoplights. I've owned a couple slow cars and the abuse I had to put on them to get them to perform anything close to what I wanted convinced me that it's cheaper in the long run to just buy something quick. I'm much more interested in the power and speed of a car than the resale or how shmancy the interior is - and I have the driving record to speak for it.

Just different priorities, I guess.

Because, when you pull out of a driveway, or some such, you should be able to get up to the speed of traffic quickly, not gradually get up to speed on your own time, forcing five cars to slam on their brakes so you can get out of the mall.

People do that anyway, no matter what they're driving, happens to me at least once or twice a week when I come upon the BMW dealership.

I never did. When I pulled out, I'd punch it. Like I said, there's a need to accelerate to the speed of traffic quickly.

For those who do factor 0-60, they want to know how quick the car is.

IMO 30-70 is a generally more useful measure, but 0-60 is an old yardstick and it will continue to be.

I figure if a car has a slow 0-60 time, then it will be a poor stop and go car. Once the driver sits his adult sized self in the car, weighs it down with his wife, kids, groceries and other accessories, and turn the a/c or heater on, there will be very little power left for enjoyable driving.
I know many times, when a car is tested 0-60, the testers tell you where the car has its maximum torque. This is useful information.
