I'm 20, so I'm using all the cars my family (me, my mom, and my dad) have owned since the year 1997 for my comparison. Worst gas mileage of those would have been my dad's 1978 International Scout that got about 12 mpg or so, in the late 90s.
It is probably a toss up between the 1977 Dodge Ramcharger 4wd that had a 400 in it and my 2001 Ford Excursion V10 4wd. 10-12mpg
Never checked my 72 340 Cuda, 4 speed 4:56 gears , 11.5:1 compression, decent size cam. Never really cared it was a fun car to drive.
Drove a 10 second 85 Mustang GT on the street for a few years, never checked but Im sure that car still got into the teens for mpg.
With today's technology I've seen 800hp street/strip cars getting low 20's.
1973 Chrysler Town and Country stationwagon. Had a 440 with lots of power, but was butt ugly. Complete with the fake wood side panels. Was lucky if I got 12mpg.

That would be the first, a 1958 Chrysler Windsor, that got about 8 around town, 10 on trips.
Luckily gas was only about $0.30/gallon so a full tank cost me $6.
