Thinking back on it, mine was manual. Agree about Harbor Freight electric motors.

I would consider lift/tailgate as well, something, like these

Tommy Gate G2 Dual Drive Series Liftgates for Pickup Trucks

Did you check around, may be you could find used truck or van with lift gate already installed?
