Those things maybe ugly but they can sure as hell offroad, Not to bad on gas either.
Im a Truck driver and while id feel comfortable driving any truck Im a Ford Truck guy, what would make me embarassed? if i had to drive a toyota, nissan or honda truck.
How about if someone offered you a bright pink Prius the only thing you had to pay for is fuel, the only requirement is it had to stay pink, would you take them up on their offer?
Probably not. It depends on how long it would last. I'd just sell it.
The curent VW bug is still a chick looking car with no performance since there's no turbo model.
There is a Turbo S gas as well as the TDI (diesel). Still, I'm guessing 'performance' is not a word used to describe either model. If the TDI were rear wheel drive and significantly lighter I'd get one.
Oh I agree, it's basically like a shrunken down Corvette that's been modeled to look like a really creepy looking spider that's been crossed with a classic Porsche and something very Japanese...all sitting on top of a go-kart chassis...but it's quite possibly THE best car out there in terms of true performance/engineering spirit. I'll put it this way, people buy them and love them because they're done "right". They're just a thing of beauty...small engines with modest horsepower combined with super low weight and perfect drag/resistance = one of the most nimble designs out there. They achieve speed through other means than just tossing in a huge engine. There's absolutely nothing out there that even attempts to do what Lotus does, they're pretty much a modern throwback to all of the great cars of yesteryear.
As an American male, it would be anything small and foreign.
pretty insecure, huh :)
For me a car with missing inspection, with summer tires during winter and similar is usually a big no-no. Any other no-no list screams "compensating", "low self-esteem" or "I am not gay, please believe me".
My grandfathers YELLOW 1976 AMC Gremlin! I HATE that car! LOL.
