Probably not. It depends on how long it would last. I'd just sell it.

I guess you have a lack of taste or just don't know what cool cars look like...

There is a Turbo S gas as well as the TDI (diesel). Still, I'm guessing 'performance' is not a word used to describe either model. If the TDI were rear wheel drive and significantly lighter I'd get one.

Oh I agree, it's basically like a shrunken down Corvette that's been modeled to look like a really creepy looking spider that's been crossed with a classic Porsche and something very Japanese...all sitting on top of a go-kart chassis...but it's quite possibly THE best car out there in terms of true performance/engineering spirit. I'll put it this way, people buy them and love them because they're done "right". They're just a thing of beauty...small engines with modest horsepower combined with super low weight and perfect drag/resistance = one of the most nimble designs out there. They achieve speed through other means than just tossing in a huge engine. There's absolutely nothing out there that even attempts to do what Lotus does, they're pretty much a modern throwback to all of the great cars of yesteryear.

The early models definately look better than the newer ones though in my oppinion:

One that's less than 5 years old or cost more than $25K. My car is a tool, and new ones or expensive ones don't do the job any better.

Special needs vehicle, maybe, for not a driver.

pretty insecure, huh :)

For me a car with missing inspection, with summer tires during winter and similar is usually a big no-no. Any other no-no list screams "compensating", "low self-esteem" or "I am not gay, please believe me".
