I just got the brakes replaced on my car. They replace the rotors and pads on the front and drums and shoes on the rear. When i hit the brakes to stop, it makes a noise, only on the front passenger side. It makes the same sound a flat tire would make if you were driving on one, but tires a perfectly fine. Any idea what it might be?

All components are not aligned, tightened, or both. Get it checked as soon as you can.

Some amount of noise is normal after a brake job but these are typically squeaks and such.

Take it back. Sounds like something is loose. I've seen cliper bolts not tightened pads fall out etc. Take it back CAREFULLY.

I agree with the earlier posters. Some squeaking is normal and not something I would be concerned with. Grinding or the "flat tire" sound is not normal.

Thanks for the replies. I brought it back to the shop and apparently the rear drums they put on were out of round. They replaced them, no charge and no noise

Do yourself a favor and never go back there. First rule of thumb is check everything first. MOST brand new drums and rotors are not round or flat.

I can't tell you the last time I installed a set of drums that didn't need to be cleaned up before I installed them and this is name brand stuff. If you use one of the quick "brake" places the stuff they use is typically low grade import stuff and they should know better..
