The only reason I am posting this message is to try to save someone from have the same experience with Toms River Transmissions.
I thought (first mistake) that I could find an honest person to help me get a new tranny for my truck by going online (second mistake). Living in Las Vegas, I have become a little wary of businesses here, so I took my business online and found Toms River trans in Toms River, NJ. They were good on the phone (the first time) so a deal was struck the middle of July and here I am still waiting for a trans and out (so far) over $1,500. The fact that they would not accept a credit card for payment (third mistake) should have told me something, but I still trust people (could this be the fourth mistake).
I remember folks back east (born in NH and spent much time in Maine - most of both sides of family still in both places) as being very friendly and handshake honest, but maybe that has changed.
For what it's worth. I still think most people are worth trusting.
i am going though something like that now with Jr at tomsrivertransmission i just ordered a transmission for my 2004 f150 pic-up the trans. was shiped i picked it up went to the trans. shop just to find out that they sent the wrong transmission for my truck that was ok people make mistakes i emailed them and they told me that it was my problem and they don't do returns and if i wonted the right transmission that they will sale it to me now taking into consideration that i am a contractor and they are transmission specialist don't you think that this is their mistake not mine this is not a company that i nor any onr i know will ever deal with again
i to am an online buyer of a transmission from toms river trans. i ordered a transmission for my truck payed with bank transfer i got the trans. about three weeks or longer and i also was sent the wrong trans. and they refuse to send me the right transmission or my money back they even told me that if i would send them another 1200.00 bucks that they would be happy to send me the right transmission... i made the offer to pay return shipping ,i did file a complaint with the BBB and the case has been closed as unresolved a lot of good that did it is now in the hands of the consumer affairs witch i have only received conformation that they received my complaint an have forward it to toms river tran. that has been a month or so and i have herd nothing sense
Toms river transmission got me too with the whole deal they sent me the wrong transmission to and them acts like he has done nothing wrong like it is my fault that he runs a crooked crooked business. At this point I am so mad about it I don't care if it cost me 10,000 in the end it is the point of the fact now that he is wrong not me the transmission that he sent is not even a option for the year make and model of vehicle that I order one for. And lucky for JR I live close enough that I won't have trouble making any court dates in this matter JR better put his big boy pants on for this one
I am having the same exact problem I ordered a transmission from toms river transmission on March 12,2016 and it has been a month now and still no transmission and am out 1500 dollars. We all should get together and take his ass to court n sue his ass. I'm so frustrated because money is tight right now and I just can't afford this, and it makes it worse now because I need the transmission to fix my work van inorder to go to work. If anyone has any ideas on how to help me or anything please reply
Forget the BBB. It's a worthless entity that has no power to do anything for you. Did you pay by personal check and did you mail the check through USPS? If you did and they did not send the item it's mail fraud. Go speak to the lexical Piet office postmaster and file a complaint. Look and see if they are licensed by the state automotive bureau. File a complaint with them and look into filing with the state attorney general.
I never purchase if they do not take CC. I hope you get your money back

^^Agreed This. And people remember a debit card is not a credit card and has none of the credit card protections.

As well as using the mail, if the company didn't accept CCs I'd pay with a USPS Money Order, the PO doesn't take kindly to mail fraud.
