When my transmission went out on my 2003 chevy Silverado (Manual transmission) I couldn't find anyone that would rebuild them and the shop went looking for one in the junk yards. On a whim I looked up the cost of a brand new crate transmission. It was only 500 dollars more than a junkyard transmission with over 120k miles on it. I just went for the new one.
I read this whole thread and about halfway through wondered about the mail fraud angle. It wasn't until about 5 posts ago that this was brought up.
One of the original posters mentioned "remanufactured" as opposed to "rebuilt". There really is no difference for the most part. In rebuilding someone takes one unit apart, is SUPPOSED to replace worn or defective parts and reassembles the unit.
Remanufacturing is basically the same thing only on an assembly line type basis. I've seen JUNK from both, it all really depends on whose doing the work and whether they are going to replace worn out parts. I know people that have used Jasper's stuff and had to rebuild/replace engines bought from them while they do reimburse for labor you're still out your vehicle, if this is a work vehicle you're screwed.
You're best off dealing local unless like the one poster, you're in San Fransisco and live in Vegas, then sometimes a national chain is the way to go. At least locally you can ask people you trust. When dealing online with someone the old adage, "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is." applies.
I only pay or get paid online with paypal, credit card, or USPS money orders. Sold something once to someone and I specified USPS money order, he sends me a money order from, "A well respected bank." in Ohio. My response was we have many "well respected banks" in NJ that I'm sure he's never heard of and he has to wait 2 weeks for me to ensure the money order was valid.

I have delt with this company and they do care.
The better business bureau does have one other complaint against them, however, the BBB keeps a 36 Month, three year, record on file for complaints.
I have no problem dealing with a Company with Only one complaint against them in a three year period. That is a record to be proud of for any Company in this day and age.
Maybe its you!
I would have no problem dealing with Toms River Transmission.
We are in weekly contact with customer who was told if you can no longer wait, simply email to cancel your order and we will simply send you a refund.
Not sure why the customer failed to mention that fact.
Thanks

I purchased a transmission, torque converter, and cooler from Toms River Transmission on 11/9/16. I purchased the items by way of an "on line check". I also wondered why a visa form of payment was not desired. The sales person at 866-669-3343 was very courteous and helpful in providing me with all the help I needed. On 11/20 I called to check on the shipment. I was told that all of the parts that I ordered except the torque converter were all scheduled to be shipped as soon as the converter arrives, which should be no later than Monday, 11/26. Hopefully, I would then receive a tracking confirmation by email in order to know when the shipment will arrive. I trust this company, although I had gone on-line to see what types of complaints the BBB had on this company and how the company was rated. There were 2 complaints and the company had a BBB rating of B-, which I felt was good. I may not have received the parts as of yet, but I sincerely belief this company to be reliable thus far. I will keep you informed. signed: A believer

No reason to doubt you, you seem like an upstanding an honest man.

There is a huge difference between the two methods.
Joe or Jane down the street can rebuild the automatic transmission. Joe or Jane may not have the knowledge or tools or correct parts or all of the parts. Nor up to date information and manuals.
The professional remanufactured shop is up to date and does have all of the latest tools, knowledge, manuals.
Of course anything that people assemble - things potentially could go wrong.
My bet is the professional dedicated remanufacturing shop that does many transmissions.
Not Joe or Jane down the street.
