but this Fury III is in exceptionally good condition for a Fuselage Mopar that is almost 40 years old
do you think that Plymouth engineers were aiming for a more Imperial type look with the teardrop back lights and Imperial like center grille? it also seems to try to ape an Olds 98 somewhat
do you like the styling of this 73 or the 72 (remember the 4 square backlights and plastic grille with either the hidden headlights or the "grandmas reading glasses headlights") better?
I know i know, most of you will say "it's all just a big heap of metal"!!
I see kids/younger dudes rolling around in stuff like this occasionally. Not ever as clean as that one but retro cool is definitely making a comeback in a big way.
what state are you in where you see this? last time i saw a Mopar was in 1998 a Dodge Polara station wagon, 1973,. here in NY. I do see more of them when i travel to the Carolinas and Ga tho
many of them look hideous with sport or mag hubcaps. the hubcaps on this car are exactly what they should be for this car, conservative but a little stylish
Beautiful!
I had a 1972 Plymouth Fury lll 4-door sedan. Owned it for three years, sold it when I moved from one state to another in 2001.
I still fantasize about having a huge old American car again. I've owned several in my younger days and there's nothing like driving something with an acre of steel preceding you down the street.
Mmm...I don't recall exactly now. It was not my daily driver. I guess it had that typical floaty way of going down the road that those big old cars did and IIRC it was pretty comfortable to drive. Previously I had a 1972 Cadillac Sedan de Ville, 4-door with the humungous engine. THAT thing was a dream to drive!
I was rear-ended by a Ford Escort while driving the Plymouth.
Ford Escort: smashed front end and busted radiator.
My Plymouth: small schmear of Ford Escort paint on the bumper, which I rubbed off.

on a website devoted to Mopar fuselages that these cars looked so aggressive and intimidating that people often moved out of the way quickly to avoid being hit by one!
i remember back in 72 we went on vacation and at the time we had a 66 Ford Galaxie 500 which was the biggest car we ever owned
my dad rented us a 72 Plymouth Fury III sedan in Florence SC to go to Myrtle beach. Dad was astounded at the car's size, weight and power. He thought our Ford (which had a 289 V8) was big, it was nothing compared to the Plymouth he rented which had either a 360 or a 400. He liked it too saying it had a feeling of substance that the Ford didn't have, and he liked the "high up" seating position
