I just replaced one last week, on Veterans Day, a Die Hard Gold. It replaced one purchased 11-2-09 so I got 6 years; our weather here can range from 10F in winter to 110F in summer easily.
Just over 5 years on my infiniti qx56 om battery. It's seemed sudden to me, started up great then slight cool front and it wouldn't take a charge. 2 volts not 12 when my indie replaced it for me, towed it to him so changing it automatically 4 years out.
I just freshened up my 27 Ford hot rod, did some motor, etc work, and while I was at it I changed out the battery. It was still working fine, but it was 9 years old and I knew on borrowed time. I gave it to my one Son as a spare battery, and he says it still works ok.
But normally, here in Florida, if you get 3-4 years you have done well. Not sure why the one in my 27 lasted so long, I didn't have a battery tender on it and only drive the car infrequently, but that Deca Marine battery sure held up well.
16 years, and it still worked fine, but I bought a new one because I was afraid of having it go abruptly out and stranding me somewhere away from home.
I sure hope this new one does as good a job. No matter how cold, that battery would snap the engine to life first time every time. Weather here gets to 20 below; car started first time every time.
Generally, though, I plan on replacing a battery every 5 years. Also, generally, I don't replace them until they start to give trouble.
