Mazda3 will be more fun to drive, Sonata will look nicer with some higher end features if you get the loaded one.

Check out the Kia Optima if you are considering the Sonata. You will find the Optima EX comes better equiped than the similar priced Sonata GLS for ~$23k sticker. The EX has leather, power seat, dual auto climate, bluetooth, sirius, keyless ignition, and other goodies.

I couldn't find a sedan better in the size, power, MPG, and options in this price range. Plus the warranty is excellent.
