Don't get the Cadillac DTS - reminds my of funeral cars. All of the funeral homes in my area use these for their funeral procession so that's what I think of every time I see one. I'd go for the Corvette drop top.

I doubt I'd get the DTS, it's definitely on the bottom of my list and the most outdated vehicle. I just think on the used market, they're one of the best car bargains available. I've seen tons of used DTS's in the Phoenix area with very low miles (>30,000-40,000) for the mid $20K's.
Next year when I start looking with some actual money in my wallet, I'll probably stick to finding either a 2008-2009 'Vette convertible or maybe a 2009-2010 CTS sedan. The kid in me wants another 'Vette while the adult is screaming to get a comfortable sedan.
I generally like a wide variety of vehicles. My ideal garage would have a sports car, luxury sedan, full size SUV and a diesel truck. Practicality and finances forces me to compromise on what I buy, but when I do shop I generally consider a wide range of vehicles before narrowing it down to what will work best for my needs and wallet.
So, no, I don't think you're crazy for looking at such different vehicles.
I'm not a truck person at all, but I find myself lusting over the Ford Raptor. That engine is a gem, and the suspension had to have been engineered by geniuses, but most importantly, it's the perfect way to say "Moderator cut: Inappropriate language, L.A. potholes"

When I see vastly different. I generally think of vehicles that are actually unique and unusual.
Eg:
That British boat car;
VW thing
21 window VW bus
Avanti
Jensen GT
Allard
Convertible Lincoln form the 60s with suicide doors
Tesla
Viper
Aztec
I do not think of a group of common sedans or a corvette as vastly different. Perhaps the meaning is different from each other, like having a toy car and a boring business sedan and a 4x4 and some sort of classic or unique car. If that is the meaning, doesn't everyone want cars that are vastly different? Not too many people wish that they had five BMW sedans or four minivans. Most are not even excited about having two pick up trucks.

I think that the Pontiac G-8 is one of the more underrated and under priced cars out there. For the boring sedan class, it is one of the best.

I do nto understand the question.
The question isn't about owning a wide variety of vehicles. It's also not about buying vehicles at the extreme range of each type (boat car? ). It's about considering a wide variety of vehicles for a single purchase. Hence my comments about not understanding why someone would be considering a Civic and a full size pickup at the same time when looking to buy a single vehicle. Their uses are so far apart that they don't belong on the same list of possibilities, at least from my way of thinking.
That's my practical side speaking, and from the viewpoint of someone who doesn't own numerous vehicles at the same time.
I hope the coupes plummet in price, so I can buy one sooner rather than later.
