Years ago, I suddenly decided that I wanted to buy a motorcycle. I had never been on one. I went to the motorcycle store and they said they would teach me on weekends if I bought a bike from them. They started showing me Harley's at $20,000 or more. I asked for the cheaper faster bikes that I had seen advertised like the Honda Ninja. The guy said: "Ohh you want an organ donor bike. We keep those in the showroom next door. Go through the door right there that says O.D. and you can find a Donor salesman to help you." The Harley showroom literally had a black sign with red "O.D." hanging over the door the lead to the crotch rocket showroom. They sold both kinds of bikes, but only rode Harleys. After he explained the reasons and said "I will not sell you one of those becuase I know that you have children, but the salesman over there will sell you one if you want", I continued to look at the Harleys, but ended up buying nothing. I still have never ridden on a motorcycle, they look like fun though.

IMO neither one is a good starter bike. The people who insist to start on either of these 2 bikes, tend to not last long, and batter both types of bikes up bad if they don't die. Most of them quit riding with in 1 year if they live.

If you wanted to fly would you start in a F-18 with no lessons?

Then a good rider on a meek bike who can out rider a bad rider on a quick /to big4U bike always wins.

I got a sis in law who just quit riding. She insisted on a low boy HD and has dumped it more times than I can remember. Finally her husband called it quits and she will never ride again. And she took MSF no less.

Johnny I don't tailgate. I don't and won't driving anything or riding.

Too many things have happened either way, but when I am riding it is gonna be one hell of a crash.

On bikes I have had 1 canoe come off a SUV, and that was close, a pile of sheet rock came off a van, and that was close.

In my 4x4 truck another truck had a matress come off, and i ran it over with a big grin to teach that SOB a lesson.

In my Volvo wagon, a dresser came off another truck in a blizzard on I-390 NY which I almost hit.

In 09 I found out 50 mph on a Kawii Nomad you need more than 85.5 feet to stop, when a SUV hits a moose. I hit the SUV too, but only ruined my ft fender, and with borrowing a claw hammer rode the bike and even finished that season with the munged up fender.

Riding I figure everyone is blind and out to Kill Me!

Yesterday a woman at a stop sign decided it was safe to go, when I was approaching, and then she did see me, and stopped giving me a feeble wave to say "I am sorry'. I waved back. My Nomad is riden in day time on Hi beam and I run 2 passing lamps at 55 watts each. One would think they would see me. They don't.

Hey idiots, learn to freaking drive, I own the road and I don't share with anybody else. Driving is a right, it's not a privilege. I don't share the road with you, you share it with me, so learn your place!

Road Hog.

Good thing we never met on the road when I was young, as i would have rodded your glass with a 36" snap on extention sartin.
Some fool like you thought it was funny to bump my handle bars as i passed on US Rt 1 (4 lanes).

All of a sudden he could no longer see where he was going, and evidently not well enough to get my tag number either.

If you really do what you say you do one day they will say your a murderer.

These days I carry a .45 and I shoot lefty.
