I would like to protect a garage floor from any leaking oil from my old car. Does anyone know of a product (mat or whatever) that I can put under my car, which will protect the cement floor but not damage the tires even if it's excessively hot in the garage? Thanks in advance.
I like cardboard Cut it up, tape it down directly under the engine...works well if you don't have TONS of oil seeping out, if you've got a gusher...you'll have to go with an garage floor coating solution. Some are better than others, read the reviews!
A small flat cardboard box with about 1/2 inch of kitty litter in it placed under the engine will soak up alot of oil. You may not have to change the kitty litter for weeks.

a drip pan w/ a gallon of fluid SUX to empty. I used to do it when I worked aviation maintenance. We'd throw the drip pan under the nose wheel of a Cessna when doing an oil change. Minimal oil would drip onto the pan, but then we'd hose the engine/firewall off with solvent that would drip into the pan. Picking the huge piece of tin up full of fluid and transporting it to the chemical storage areas was a royal pain the buttocks.
Thanks for the replies folks. The thing is, it's not my garage, and the person renting it to me wants me to put something under the car that can be removed later on. Some kind of mat, I think, so I'm looking for a rec. for something like that. Cardboard is a great idea, I would do that if it were my garage, but the owner won't go for that. I'm getting a great deal on the rental so I am happy to buy something but not sure what to get.

I would get a flat sheet metal pan and place cardboard kitty litter box in the pan. Change the kitty litter box every few months, the pan is only a 'second / failsafe solution' It will likely NEVER see liquid. You can get them at Home stores (for under Washer and dryer.) or auto stores (for under engines...) or if small enough area to cover, at goodwill; (baking sheet w/ sides)
If you want something that will just catch a few drips, then I agree with getting a drip pan. Walmart has a metal one that's roughly 4 feet long by 2 feet wide and it's less than 10 bucks.
If you're just protecting the garage floor surface from the possibility of a drip or two from your car, then the metal drip pan is the way to go.
If there's more than a few drops of oil to catch, then a layer of kitty litter/floor-dri in the pan will make clean-up and disposal of the oil drops a very easy thing to do when the time comes to leave the rental.
I don't want to sound rude, but why not just fix the oil leak? It's environmentally unsound to drive around dripping oil on the ground anyway,
