Just a couple pennies under $3 a gallon in the Grand Junction area. If there is a summer vacation on my list of things to do, it will be taken in February most likely. And it won't be a long trip either. That's ok though, I can handle it.
Its not what you sell something for as much as it is HOW MUCH it will cost you to replace it. I think the price of those little geo metros that have a 1 litre 3 cylinder engine will continue to go up. If you could find one that had over 100k with a bad engine it would be well worth fixing and it would keep its value high. They get better than most of the so called hybrids for a fraction of the cost. They arent that hard to work on either. As far a 5 dollar gas being a crazy idea , since when have the ones guilty of corporate greed changed their ways? Gas could jump to 5 bucks overnight and we couldnt do a thing about it. Even if demand falls they can stockpile it and still continue the same profits. Its not like gas is milk that will go stale .lol

Many Americans are more likely to be happy full-size sedan hybrid than a GEO Metro. Both have their target audiences. Also, my cars have 10 year warranties on the transmission... you can't say the same about a GEO Metro.
Im looking forward to $5 per gallon, as this may force people to continue buying fuel-efficient cars and to avoid unnecessary driving.
Other parts of the world show that people can survive with even $8 a gallon.

Facts?
Although I'll admit the GEO Metro is too small for me.. the Toyota Yaris is about the smallest I'll be happy with. Too big won't do either - fuel consumption, difficulty in parking, etc.

Just kidding! I also have 4 other cars that are gasoline-powered, which means that we take the electric car as often as possible.
Electricity costs are also going up if gas goes up (but will still be cheaper than driving a gas car).. electricity and gas prices are positively correlated over the long term although they won't move exactly in tandem.
