when i stopped by my office to pick up my paycheck after i had gotten my new Yaris, a coworker who i am very close to came out to see the new car. when she opened the passenger's door she threw 2 bills on the front passenger's floor saying "with Italians when someone gets a new car we throw some money into the front for good luck".

Has anyone heard of this? I have never heard of this before. maybe poster John Frisco (sounds like he might be Italian if that is his name) knows?

other questions-

what are the compartments in the driver's and passenger's front doors best used for?

do they sell anything to prevent ice scrapers from leaking onto and dirtying the carpeting? maybe i will just keep them in the protective bag I have in the cargo area along with the jumper cables, etc

I did a quick google search on this. It definitely appears to be an Italian tradition and a lot of references to NY and NJ. Also seems to be more common with coins and not bills.

The driver side door compartment is where I keep my ice scraper!

Also good for phone/MP3 player chargers, and used to be great for maps before the GPS.

this lady lost both her son in June in a drowning accident (his drug addiction may have been the culprit) and a month later her husband (the victim of a botched esophagael surgery almost 6 years ago). she has a lawsuit pending with the hospital that performed the surgery

I lost my mom this past August(but to cancer not drugs)

so we both kind of have this in common, losses and new cars

i am proud of myself that i did get the car all on my own as in the past i always had dad in my corner when buying the car and never had to do much on my own

yeah i inherited a GPS from my folks but i've always been so good at directions and never get lost i wonder if i ever will use it

the owners manual says never to stick anything on the windowglass but isn't that what you do with a GPS device?
