I'm obviously doing something wrong. No matter what cleaning solvent I use and what wiping material (paper towel, t-shirt, napkin, newspaper) I use, I always end up with streaks and smudges. What am I missing? Thanks.

Microfiber cloth and Windex makes perfectly clear windows for me.

Side note: Windex works great but don't ever use it on tinted windows. It will fade the film.

Try a foaming glass cleaner rather than a windex-type product. You wouldn't believe how much easier it is to wipe off.

Surprisingly, I've found the cheapest method works best. A capful of vinegar and a couple of drops of ammonia in a half bucket of very hot water (as hot as you can stand) and a couple of lint free cloths (actually, T-shirts don't work half bad). Use one cloth as the wet, cleaning cloth with a quick wipe down and immediately follow with a very vigorous wiping with a dry cloth- works wonders both inside and out. Uses a little bit of energy to do it well and you gotta work quick to keep the water hot, but who among us doesn't need a little more physical activity in our lives?

I always just use hot dish-soapy water, then rinse with hot water spiked with a cup of vinegar, and wipe with newspaper.
