Before anyone embarrasses himself by identifying #244 as a Land Rover, I will correctly identify it as an Austin Gipsy.
The Gipsy was--unfortunately--built with steel body panels, rather than the aluminum that was used on the Land Rover.
And, the suspension utilized rubber components, rather than conventional springs.
The result of those two major design errors was that, when subjected to harsh weather conditions, the body quickly rusted and the suspension hardened and disintegrated.
Ergo--not a good choice for military use!
