at least back in the day when we put a hood scoop on a car, it was because the carb/air cleaner/blower stuck thru the hood. Peeps used to ask why my friend had a large scoop on his Pinto wagon. Guess Ford didnt account for someone stuffing a 351 under the stock hood lol

The prowler has been one of my favorite cars for a long time! While I agree with you that the scoops are obnoxious at best, I'd just use them as a bargaining chip for a better price on the car. If you look at the engine photo, you can see why a V8 wasn't offered in the prowler, which I think really hurt it's sales...there's simply not much room to work with. Right before Plymouth was discontinued, Chrysler had finally found a way to shoehorn a v8 under the hood of the prowler...I believe it was released as the Chrysler Howler as a concept, it had modified front and rear bumpers, a truck bed w/ cover and most importantly the v8 engine.

Plymouth : Prowler Plymouth : Prowler | eBay
He's not "trying" to sell it for $25K; the opening bid was 99 cents, it's the BIDDERS (11 of them so far, placing a total of 24 bids, with 3 days to go) that have decided that it's worth $25K.

And I doubt that the scoops were installed with the idea that they would enhance the value. More than likely the previous owner put them on because he thought they looked cool. I don't, but that hardly matters because it's not my car. And as others have said, they're easy to remove so no real harm done.

The bid history indicates that the current high bidder has entered a proxy bid that will automatically raise his bid if someone else jumps in, so he obviously thinks it's worth MORE than $25K.

But they would only sell 75 of them. It would be a poor business decision by Chrysler.

Nothing per se wrong or obnoxious with that car as already noted by several. I think "fake" anything on a car is dumb, including hood scoops and the Buick-ish front fender vents. I also think "gold" emblems are dumb. And I really don't see why people like chrome or billet aluminum "racing" gas caps.

I think 22 inch wheels on almost everything is awful. Chrome wheels are usually crappy too.

But I'll admit that I just don't like the blingy look.

If you have the money, I wonder if it's possible to drop in Chrysler's new Pentastar V6 at about 280 HP along with Chrysler's new 6 speed transmission? Not sure if a Chrysler V8 would fit in that narrow engine bay.
