Spring brings with it many cyclists returning to the public roadways to practice a very efficient and healthy form of transportation and/or recreation: bicycling.

How do you feel about cyclists sharing the roads with cars? Do most, in your experience, obey the laws, or at least the spirit of the law? Is your area cut out for cycling? Do highways and busy roads have shoulders, or are cyclists forced to ride in traffic?

They annoy me. At least they can't be on highways.

Isn't it like the most dangerous sport?

Recreational cyclists in their lycra and expensive carbon roadbikes? They don't bug me at all. The salmon on fixies, different story.

Drivers need to learn the rules. Treat a bicycle like a car. Don't pass unless you can give 3 feet.

while cyclists have their rights, i think common sense should be used a bit more (at least around here).
back home in Wi there were many places with added bike lanes, increasing safety. But around here, many of the roads dont have anything for shoulders, and it can be quite dangerous to crest a hill at 45 mph to have someone pedaling along on the lip of the blacktop not worrying about the traffic behind them.....

I'm not a cyclist so my thoughts may be skewed, but if it's on city streets (lower speed limits) or on roads with specific bike lanes then go and have fun. But biking on narrow busy roads with higher speeds and heavy traffic-- the risk is not worth the ride.
Oh, and if a cyclist wants to be treated the same as cars--then stop at the light like everyone else!

just my .02

Don't understand why so many people are annoyed with cyclists. I would have used one if the weather in Dallas was friendlier.

Live and let live.

Cyclists need to learn the rules. Bicycles are required to stop at stop signs and red lights just like cars do.
