I know exactly what the term means and it is still a racist comment. Urban dictionary hardly qualifies as proof of anything but now I know what kind of person you are if that's where you get your info. You show your ignorance by not understanding the origin of the term.
Enjoy your old ford escort and the fact that you believe you can't improve on it's handling, performance or looks and have basically given up on it because you live by what other people might think of you. Someone truly into cars makes modifications for reasons other than pleasing random internet jockeys.
Sooooo sad.
Racist comment? Dude he was talking about a car...get over being PC!
Just like saying the Chrysler 300 is a "ghetto Bentley"......not racist.
I have a 2012 Passat TDI and get 46 to 48 mpg on the highway. Love that German engineering. Not a big fan of newer Toyotas, they seem cheap to me. My VW is extrememly fun to drive and it wasnt overly expensive either. Not judging anyone who drives a Prius but to me there is no fun factor involved. If your main goal is good fuel economy then why not leave it as is and then have a toy for the weekend that you can "mod" the way you want. A moded Toyota Prius just seems kind of funny to me. At least your not putting 26" wheels on it though, lol
As far as the term "ricer"....really....racist...not even close. If that term offends someone there is a serious problem. Worry about more important things.
Listen, I said I would not respond, but I have to here. If you look at my past posts, you will see I have owned many Japanese cars. I also did the same thing you are doing to your Prius to a 1995 Ford Contour back in 2002. I was laughed at and called a ricer back then. I think the term you are referring to is rice burner which "could" possibly defined as racist, although I do not think so myself. I meant no offense, and all I was trying to say is making a slow car look fast will get negative attention. I hope that clears it up.
I get it. I was just giving you crap.
But it's still sad that you live your life by what others think of you.
If you enjoy modding your cars, there's no valid reason you can't mod your escort.
Live your life, you only get one.

No one gets hwy mileage as their avg so your hwy mileage isn't all that great.
I got 65mpg on my hour long commute in yesterday. Of course my avg is more in the low 50's.
In my driving, the TDI still won't get me near that. It wouldn't have been worth giving up my stage II modified A3 which got 30 on the hwy but averaged about 24 per tank. I've always had german cars (vw and audi) and never thought I'd drive anything else. Love them all. Except our passat which was the biggest p.o.s. but that was just the luck of the draw.
Why would I buy a second car when I am enjoying this one?
The fun factor is in watching everyone else on the commute get all p'd off and stressed out while I enjoy my ride in, sipping my coffee, and watching the bars on the dash tell me i just got a new high score on my mpg.
My wife liked the Lexus, but I couldn't spend another 10K on what was basically a glorified Prius.
It's only about 2k more if you are comparing comparably equipped cars.
And for that you get quieter ride, nicer materials and better handling out of the box. It was a no brainer for me to get the lexus, except for the drop in MPGs and the fact that it was so much smaller inside.
Ricer comments in reference to a car is in no way racist, its basically people that throw mode to a vehicle to look fast... But actually not make it faster.

Which is what you are doing.

Actually, if you pay attention you will see that "looking fast" is not the goal.
The wheels are the same exact size as stock, and these wheels were made by Toyota specifically for the Prius. They are around 7lbs lighter than stock which yields a couple performance benefits including better MPG. The drop on shorter springs also has several benefits. Better ride, better handling and it no longer looks like a 4x4. You would think someone into cars would know this by now. The hitch and hitch mounted bike rack don't do a thing for looks, but it adds to the utility of the car making it fit my needs even better.
The term "ricer" describes a car that has modifications that do nothing to improve performance. Which is clearly not the case here. If you are going to use the term, at least use it correctly. You will not see me add a CIA or exhaust because that would do nothing for performance on this car and would be counterintuitive to the whole reason I drive it. You can also look at the urban dictionary link posted earlier where you'll see none of it applies.
