V-6 engines will not be offered in several forthcoming new models this fall, including the Regal, Malibu, Sonata, Optima, Fusion & Focus according to Motor Trend magazine.

Around 85% of the Accords and Camrys sold in this country over the past 25+ years have had 4-cylinder engines in them, so Americans are at least pretty used to them.

My first new car, a 1985 4-door Accord LX with A/T, tipped the scales as a modest 2,200 pounds.

Yup. With CAFE regulations and high gas prices, 4 cylinders or even turbo 4 cylinders are the way to go.

Its not just Americans, stop spreading ignorance. Anyone who travels or who knows about cars outside their state knows that Europe, China, etc are loving larger cars and SUVs. Sales are exploding. All cars are getting bigger and heavier.
