Yes, there is a problem. Its indicating a fault in the system. You may not have airbag deployment in a crash with the light on. It can be a lot of different things.
i would suggest taking it in to get checked, depending on the vehicle and year it may be a covered item; considering it's purpose i'd hate to see anyone find out after an accident that they had a bag fail...
I am continually amazed that questions like this need to be asked. The light is not normally on, suddenly it comes on and stays on. No, there's no problem, your SRS system is just saying hello, hope you're having a good day.

Does no one read their owners manual anymore?
No doubt.
"Hi, I have a mystery make and model and a warning light is on and has been on for a while. Does I haves a problem?"
No, you don't have a !@#$% problem. That's why cars have warning lights. To tell you that you don't have a problem.
Then after pulling teeth to find out any more information, you learn that the guy rear ended a city bus three months ago, blew the airbags, cut them off with a hunting knife and taped down the ripped covers, and is now wondering what the SRS light means, and why his seat belts won't retract.
Yo Tony, you need to read the sticky at the top of the page before asking a question like this.
I'm a bonehead.
