My biggest beef is that the gas station people are quick to throw the price up, but when it should be down they are slower than a tortoise to bring the price down. it's almost like a penny per week price drop compared to 10 cent increase over 2hours.

Exactly. I think people are complaining because it's a pain. Here in Phoenix I am seeing a lot more electric cars, I doubt it's more than 1% of the pop though.

For those of you comparing national average for regular during an election year, this week in 2008 was 3.99. The highest avg was 4.25 and the highest price was 4.61 for all of 2008.

When I complain it's because the pricing of important commodities like gas and oil should not have been allowed to be controlled so easily by so few people. Is there any other commodity as vital to much of the world that changes in price so quickly and to such extremes for no consistent reason?

The big fluctuation for no apparent reason is very apparent from the view of the commodity traders on the stock market.

They have more control over the price of our fuel than any other.

A barrel of oil is up to $92.00. A gal of gas was $3.70 yesterday (up 15 cents from last week). UGH !!

A fire broke out at a massive chevron oil refinery in san francisco. Gas is expected to exceed $4.00 a gal.
Sounds fishy to me. DONT trust the greedy oil companies.
