Are you the type of person to always need the latest and greatest or do you drive it until the wheels fall off?
Ideally I'd like to trade up every 3 years. I known people who have driven the same vehicle for 10+ years and others who get a new car each year. My parents usually trade up every 3 years and I think it's a good medium.

Well , as you probably know , SpeedyAZ , from other forums , I lease a new vehicle every two years . I like leasing a lot better than buying because I can drive a new vehicle more often . I also like the fact that the leasing process is much more faster than buying process , which takes all day at the dealer . When I lease a new vehicle I go to the dealer , give them my old car , pick a new car , sign the papers ,and drive off in my new vehicle .

Well, I used to get a new one every 2 years, but now that cars have gotton so much better and I have retired and don't due the daily grind anymore I" probably go to 5 years. Or until I get to smell the interior of a new car. Ha, ha.
Cars for the most part are not a good investment, that's why I'll keep my vehicles for as long as I can, maybe until the wheels fall off!. It might be nice to have a new car or truck every 3 or 4 years, but it's a waste of money. I'd rather invest my money into things that appreciate in value, instead of depreciable assets that drop about $2000 in value right when you drive out of the dealer's lot. Also, whenever I drive by junk yards, and see piles of old cars and trucks, I look at them and say, boy, 10-15 years ago, somebody paid a lot of money for this vehicle when it was brand new and it had that new car smell, now look at it!
Right now I have a 2001 Nissan Xterra and a 2005 Dodge Dakota, and before I got the Dakota, I had a 1993 Dodge Dakota. The only reason I traded it in was I needed a truck with an extended cab, otherwise I would have kept the 1993 until the wheels fell off!
I would trade every 3 years, then did every 5, now I am thinking just keep what I have
for 5 more years, and put the money into a cd that I save. I also am thinking for a person who hardly does use the car, when I buy to get the Honda Fit. It from my reading gets great review. after 5 years this crv does not even have 17,000 on it.
I just had them give the car a new battery.
Oh gosh....my last car was 10 years old before I sold it and bought another. As long as it's safe and comfortable, I keep it. I don't need the newest and flashiest every year.
I used to get a new car about every 2 years. Then I bought my first truck and I don't know if I'll ever buy another vehicle again.
