In Ohio, a DUI, driving with no insurance, and a 12 point suspension requires a SR22 bond.

No one's fault but your own.

Are they not able to offer a standard State ID? Or is there a penalty associated with that as well?

Lol, you like throwing money away, don't you? As soon as that sr22 policy is canceled, it'll be reported to the DMV and your license will be listed as suspended or revoked. They MAY just fine you for even having a license without the required sr22, or they may wait till you're caught driving, they may actually revoke your license for good (yes, it HAS been done before)

If you NEED a license, pay the monthly fees. If it's not needed, then don't try to make your life more miserable than you've managed to already just because you Think it "looks" better and you don't want to pay monthly. That's purely a "want", not a "need" and it's being ignorant. Stop being ignorant, time to follow the rules because you obviously get caught a lot.

I think you missed one of the key provisions of the SR22 bond...
"If you fail to maintain the SR22 during any period throughout the required term, your license and registration can be suspended or revoked."

IOW, you could be volunteering yourself for another whole level of hurt if you mess around with this one, and don't make the monthly payments. How is that possibly going to "look better" to anyone?

How is it throwing money away? I'll simply pay the initial deposit, get the bond, get the license. Then once I get a car I'll resume payments ( or get full coverage insurance). Once I do that the my license will be reinstated. If you stop making payments there not going to come to my house and take the license. As long as I don't drive then I'm cool.
