03 acura rsx, 130k miles, automatic....stopped at a light and it will make a nasty whistling chirping sound. if i put it in nuetral it stops making the noise. also the engine will sputter at very low speeds before kicking in again. this has been going on for awhile and the car has never stalled or anything. just curious, anyone have any ideas before i bring it in to a mechanic?

Sounds like a worn belt or maybe an idler pulley going out.

the guy at the oil change mentioned the idler pulley and said not to worry about it, should this be addressed quickly or no worries?

Yes I agree. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that the intake manifold gasket is blown and needs replaced.

This "guy" is an idiot. "If" the idler puller were bad you'd want to get it replaced NOW! to avoid most costly repairs when it completely fails. Dumb grease monkey!!

Taking maintenance/repair recommendations from someone who works at an oil change place is like taking physics lessons from a 1st grader. The intentions are good but the information is all wrong.
