Also, the most expensive 1960 'Vette was more affordable than the most expensive than the 2012 'Vette, even when factoring inflation in.

I submit that the older Vetts like this 72 were far ahead in the styling department than their newer counterparts.

Bob.
I submit that you are way over fifty thus the retro styling appeal to you.
I think cars were never as good looking as today, new Benz's or new Cadillacs and even new Hyunday's are extremely good looking cars.

Before you start comparing your Vette's and Cuda's to Hyundais let's remember that 1960's also had family cars and they were not all that good looking. Ford Edsel anyone? Faux-wood clad station wagons? Brrr.

From my perspective old family cars were huge piles of junk with some chrome on top. Terrible performance, terrible handling, terrible cars.
Now look at new sedans from Volvo, BMW, Cadillac, Ford, Lexus, Acura, Infinity.. Nice looking cars. Nice four door performance cars.

Your right...all you listed are a pile of junk compared to one of these. That's a work or art and American craftsmanship....

That reminds me of that scene in Demolition Man when Sly gets a hold of that Olds 442 and Sandy mixes up her words. http://swotti.starmedia.com/tmp/swot...d%20focus1.jpg

Correction: faux-wood full-sized station wagons. Of which you can even buy now.

How about wagons with real wood?

Or real wood on full-sized luxury cars?

Does anyone know how much work went into the one I posted... and the top one you posted? You can see your face in that finish. Lines are laser straight and it's like an antique piece of furniture.

Yes, polished chrome (and wood) looks great. Certainly better than polished plastic!

Cars like the one you posted sure get a lot of attention at car shows.

Depends on what cars you want to consider....

IMO the late 60's Camaros, Mustangs, Novas, GTO's, Chargers, Darts, Cutlasses....all looked (and still do look) better than most anything made today.

However, someone mentioned Edsel...yeah they weren't attractive...neither were most Studebaker cars....or VW bugs or micro buses...any of these cars IMO are uglier than some of what is built today.
