There is a real possibility I may want to sell my 66 Tbird, and replace it with this.
I am currently getting an insurance quote, and researching stuff like parts, tires etc.
The vette doesn't need anything other than me to drive it, but I want to know what things would cost in the future.
No firm decision yet, but most definitely considering it.

Any one have information about the 2001 Corvette I should consider?

Bob.

Keep the T-Bird as it's a classic now.

The 2002 Vette won't be for many years and you'll be one of many.

Corvette will be a boat load of fun. Love mine.

What info are you looking for? C5's were great cars... Little dated for me so I picked up a C6

I agree, up your budget and get a 2005 C6 with a 6 speed. If you must have an automatic, get a 2006 with the 6 speed auto and paddle shifters. Plus you'll be in the stock 400HP club!

I had a typo in my original post.
It's a 2001, not 02.

I agree. I would keep the T-Bird.

First piece of advice: Get a C6.

I recall the '66 Birds well. Very diff than the earlier T Birds...
Why not keep that '66 and Vette shop both? That '66 is an occasional driver I would suspect, and the ins can't be much.
A '66 Bird and a C5/C6 Vette, while both cool cars, are not in the same category, imo. Very different capabilities and one can have fun/hammer the Vette, while I doubt you are out carving corners or taking fun trips in your 'Bird...

I have an '02 Vert, which has been the best car I have ever owned, but that is simply anecdotal. I seem to recall some slight 'improvements' on post '01 C5s, but the specifics escape me.

Any of the C5s are a hoot and a great buy, imo. However, if one likes the different styling and slightly improved 'tech' and bigger engine of the C6, there are lots full of screaming buys on those models as well. C7s are coming and the C6s for sale will only increase...but, a good low mileage C5, with your specs, is not shabby either, imo.
GL, mD

What condition is your Tbird? I think you should keep it.
