With Adaptive Cruise Control, you set the distance you want to be behind the car in front of you, then the car maintains that distance should the car in front of you slow down. Or if no cars in front of you, your car goes the set speed.
Sounds great for slow and go traffic on a freeway!
Anyone know which car manufacturers offer this feature?
Porsche offers it in the Panamera and Cayenne. Volvo offers it on several models, as well, the S60, XC60, XC70, XC90, S80. The higher-end Audi A6 and the A8 offer it as well, I believe. BMW offers it as well, in several models, though optional on some, called Active Cruise Control.

The Ford Mondeo we rented in the UK had it not sure if its made its way to Fords in the US yet. Have to say the Mondeo had the same trim level as Lincolns in this country so it might appear in them first.
Adaptive cruise control is starting to filter its way down to standard cars such that it's now available on the Ford Taurus.
Be aware that there are two basic types of adaptive cruise control: partially adaptive and fully adaptive. Partially adaptive cruise control will only slow the car down automatically to a certain speed, after which it will give you an audible warning and driver intervention becomes necessary. Fully adaptive cruise control will bring you all the way down to a full stop if necessary.
