... not for the sake of this discussion. That's 99-03 power. I wonder how it helps that full-sized truck in the twisties? In any case, this isn't an import vs. domestic argument... modern vs. vintage.

Roads??? Where we are going there are no roads. I'll even tow 5 of your buddies on a flatbed there.

This is probably the baddest, nastiest vintage truck I have ever seen in my life.
The fact that it is all V8 with a single 4bbl makes it even better.

It's a '67 Chevy.

Plus he's talking about modified vehicles. If modded cars are allowed then the whole discussion is about a million times more complicated and pretty much pointless.

Cars that weigh twice as much...may still be point ignition systems, are carb fed, 2,3,4 speeds against 5 and 6 speeds, EFI, turbos, overdrives, wind tunnel aeros, NOS etc... It seems pretty fair to me. You can't have your cake and it it too.

all of riverboats conversations are just a step above worthless. stock for stock in comparable categories the new cars win hands down. car vs car, truck vs truck, supercar vs supercar. price favored the old cars but not by much when you factor inflation. but the likelyhood of your family sedan having a 426ci hemi in the 1960s was way less than having a stock 400 hp engine in a modern charger, g8 etc.

That's the whole point...how many of these cars do you guys think are still all stock?

How many of yours are.....prowly most of them. You already have EFI, OHC, lighter weight, turbos, and every other sensor next to an anal probe on command....a few thou of mods to these classics only evens the score a bit. You'll have to throw 10K or more on a new car to hang with them.

Have any of you ever heard of port/gasket matching your intake manifold and heads? Port Match Your Intake

I need a few hand tools and maybe a air die grinder to do that. It costs nothing...the same as tweeking the timing, fiddling with the carb and jets etc...

Free power..........maybe not the way the dealer techs left and tuned it for use the day you drove off the lot....still free and could have been done later that day/night if you have the know how.

You can even gain 10 to 20 HP just by changing your oil/gear lube/tranny fluid with this super high tech synthetic oil now. Car's only got 5 miles on it after driving it off the lot. I need an oil change. Tell Earl at the "filling station" to leave it be and don't top it off. Fill her up with Sunoco 260 and wash the windshield for me......I need to get this car home and order a pizza.
