I would buy a mansion first. About 15-20,000 sq. ft. Then a bunch of '50s-'70s American cars.

The mindset of someone who can is simply different than that of any of us. Many buyers are enthralled with the tech in it, and the build quality of every part of it.

And I'd bet there are things you like and cost you basically pocket change, that you'd buy that others don't like. Should you be considered having poor judgement because of that?

That's the problem. You call it poor judgement to buy a car like this and for the average buyer of them, it's simply not, because it's not any different to their financial well being than you spending on going out to dinner once. (and should I say you have poor judgment for liking the food you like?)
I'm sorry...when did I call it poor judgment?
What post are you reading?
What dimension are you accessing?
I'm talking about personal taste and judgment. Not whether it's a good decision to buy a useless ugly car.

And again, even if I had the money, it doesn't mean the car isn't ugly or that I would be interested.
Mindset has nothing to do with it.
I'm sure I would do things that other people didn't find interesting, regardless of how much money they had.
I am sure that there are people who think MY car or MY house are ugly, but I don't accuse them of being lame and sour grapey because they can't afford it.
That's just stupid.
I could buy a $200k car now and it would mean nothing to me, but that doesn't mean I am going to buy some ugly thing just because 'the tech is so fascinating.'

Of course you wouldn't buy it, you're not in the right mindset

The kind of person that buys one of these would already HAVE a mansion or two and a collection of cars. And a jet. And a yacht. Or two. You're making my point for me.

That's true, he (or she) would already have a mansion, among other things.

Wow, I didn't even know there was such as thing as a billion dollar home.

I don't like the high-rise design of it, though. I prefer the "mansion" look... 2 (or 3 stories) and spread out on a lot of land.

No, the owner is a Lufkin used car dealer that specializes in wrecked exotics. He was looking at some property in Galveston he was thinking about buying and decided to take the Veyron. Bad decision! I saw pictures of it several months before the crash, as a member of a local car website is best friends with the owner. The owner drove it to his friend's house shortly after he got it.

Pic of it at his house:

He got a newer replacement model last year, and now he is being sued over the insurance on it.
