Where do you people find wreckers or metal recyclers that pay that much for a scrap car?
Around here it would fetch $50. You can get more than that as a tax deduction donating it to charity. There are still some of those running, so parting it out would make you more money but that's a a lot of work, and then you have to pay to have the remainder trucked to the scrapyard. I would give Craigslist a try, it's free. Just watch out for the scammers that offer you $5,000 for it and want you to ship it to the UK.

I'd advise against this...

1st when you run something like seafoam, they reccomend you just let it idle, not put the engine under load, you are really "thining" the oil out, and when you load the main bearings under acceleration you can can cause damage.

Also in high mileage old vehicles, you also have to be careful about doing anything to "break up" deposits, you can break up some, they can block an oiling hole, or even just the oil pump inlet screen starving the engine for oil.

The ticking might just be able to fix by loosening the rockers, and re-tightering them back down. If its not hard to change the lifters at the same time, maybe consider doing that as well.

I may have made a mistake when I said the noise was "from the lifters". The 3 mechanics have said it was "from within the engine" and to just run it until it dies. I think people who just heard it said it was the lifters, I have no clue if a lifter is inside of the engine but just wondering if it IS a lifter, how long does a car usually last? But it is a clicking sound and people on the street can hear it, it comes from inside the engine.
Thanks
The only reason I don't have the title is because I think I must have accidentally thrown it out when I was on a cleaning spree.

It probably a decent car . I have seen quite a few of these go many miles. I believe they were sold in Japan as Toyotas.

I have several relatives in the used car business on the low end. There is a demand out there for runners and most of the time these days you can get at least a $1000 for a car that runs decently, even if it doesn't look that great. I would not scrap it unless it runs poorly or doesn't run at all.
